Glenn Releases 2022 Football Schedule

Written by Allan Cepeda

LEANDER, TEXAS -The Grizzlies will face new opponents and familiar foes this fall as the UIL completed its realignment for the 2022-2024 seasons this spring. With an increase in student enrollment at Glenn High School, the Grizzlies have moved up to the Division I ranks from Division II where they have played each of the last four seasons.

Joining them in the newly rebranded 11-5A-DI will be a couple of teams the Grizzlies are quite familiar with in the East View Patriots and the Leander Lions. Glenn has played East View as a district rival each year since 2018 and has won 3 out of the 4 games played; including a 42-18 road victory to close out the regular season last year. The Lions and Grizzlies have split their season openers in 2020 and 2021 and look to keep that local rivalry going with a little more at stake this season as district foes.

Rounding out the district will be Cedar Park, College Station, College Station A&M Consolidated, Georgetown, and Pflugerville Hendrickson.

Although the Grizzlies will be in a new district, the goal remains the same, qualify for the postseason yet again. Under second-year head coach Brandon Krauskopf, Glenn will be looking to make the playoffs for their fifth consecutive season since starting as a varsity program in 2018.

Over the last four seasons, Glenn is 20-20 overall, 15-12 in district play, and 1-3 in the playoffs.

The Grizzlies (Varsity) will open the 2022 campaign with a couple of scrimmages against Marble Falls on 8/12 and Pflugerville Weiss on 8/19 to prepare them for their 10-game schedule which opens on Friday, August 26th at Comal Pieper in San Antonio. For those who cannot make the trip to Pieper, they can tune in right here on GlennGrizSports.com to live stream every Glenn Varsity and Junior Varisty game this season.

District play begins on Friday, September 23rd (after their week 4 bye) at home against Pflugerville Hendrickson. This will be the first meeting between the Grizzlies and Hawks. The Grizzlies will play five of their seven district games at Bible stadium this season and that is a good thing. Glenn is 13-10 over the last four seasons at Bible.

Friday, September 30th, Glenn will be the road team as they take on the Leander Lions. The following week, Friday, October 7th, they will host the East View Patriots. On Friday, October 14th, Glenn will load up the buses and head two hours east to College Station for a road matchup with the Cougars. This will be the first of two trips in three weeks to Brazos County for the Grizzlies.

Their final home game will be their only Thursday night game of the season as they welcome the Georgetown Eagles into Bible on October 27th. As the calendar rolls into November, the regular season wraps up on the road at A&M Consolidated vs the Tigers on Friday, November 4th.

Glenn is returning a bevy of experienced players going into the 2022 season on both sides of the ball. Add in their second season running the slot-T offense and this season has the makings of something very special.
